Carissa is the Founder and Director of Röam, a bespoke travel company specializing in expeditions to some of the world’s most remote destinations.

Carissa has a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and has spent over a decade working in complex environments. Carissa has travelled extensively throughout Africa, where she has worked closely with traditional people and communities transitioning out of conflict.

Carissa grew up in Kenya and comes from a family dedicated to supporting the conservation of natural ecosystems through scientific research and community-based engagement. She has spent her lifetime living and working in wild places.

Röam brings together Carissa’s personal passions and professional experience in a way that allows clients to visit some of the world’s most untouched corners in a deeply meaningful, carefully considered and sustainable way.
